My design brief for the disused Highgate overground train station started with a close look at the site and a realisation that the sense of place suggested a natural hideaway from the busy urban environment that the site is set down beneath. From here I considered the relationship between people and natural places, and explored the notion of naturism or nudity as a removal of a barrier between the human and nature. I then began to design into the derelict site while reflecting on the vulnerable feeling of being naked and explored how to accomodate for this feeling in my design. I have created an urban lido for nudists in the heart of urban North London that provides an eccentric environment and a green space retreat.
